Brian K. Major, baritone, is originally from Neptune, NJ. He has performed in recitals with famed opera singer Simon Estes, and performed solo works such as Faure’s Requiem, Haydn’s Paukenmesse, Bach’s “Wachet Auf,” Tippet’s A Child of Our Time with the Atlanta Symphony and Handel’s Messiah with the Des Moines Symphony.
His opera credits include Bartolo in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, Speaker in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Antonio in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Morales in Bizet’s Carmen, Sam in Gershwin’s Blue Monday, Victor in Martin’s Before Night Falls, and Demoino in Pergolesi’s La conversione di San Guglielmo. This summer he will participate in Martina Arroyo’s Prelude to Performance and sing the title role in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro.
Mr. Major has won numerous awards and has studied abroad at the University of Siena in Italy. He completed his Bachelor of Arts degree at Morehouse College, and Master of Music degree at Boston University. In the fall, Major will be joining Boston University’s Opera Institute.
